Cheryl Cole will be sent home from hospital today as she recovers from malaria, Simon Cowell revealed. The Girls Aloud singer, diagnosed 11 days ago, has been told by her medical team at a private London clinic she is OK to leave. Simon said of his fellow X Factor judge: "She will be out within the next day."

She is keen to get back to work but I just want to make sure she doesn't rush back."
A friend told the Mirror: "It's been a tough fortnight but the worst is over. Cheryl is lying up in bed, texting and watching DVDs and is beginning to laugh again." Last night X Factor bosses said they have ditched plans to shoot this series' boot camp at Wembley Arena "due to unusual circumstances". They offered "sincere apologies" to fans.
