Cheryl Cole has revealed that Girls Aloud were told to lose weight when they started their careers. Cole and her bandmates Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts, and Kimberley Walsh won talent show Popstars The Rivals in 2002. The former X Factor judge claimed the band's record label told them it would improve their image if they were thinner.

Cheryl told the Daily Telegraph: "There was a stage when we didn't look that great. We were all told to lose weight by the record label."She added: "We lost weight, but naturally. We were so young."The 28-year-old admitted that the girls felt a lot of pressure to look the part. She said: "We didn't really think about it... All we wanted was to sell records."
Cheryl, who is now a style icon, revealed that when they started out designers did not want anything to do with the girl band. She said: "To start, it was all on a budget. Some designers wouldn't lend to us, even when we were successful, which was really snobby. I remember who they are."
